I lost my Blu-Ray drive. Here is a post I put on Yahoo Answers. Can anyone here help out?

I have a Vista 32bit system with a BluRay drive. I recently installed Daemon Tools Lite v4.35.5 and had not realized that I was missing my BluRay drive inside 'My Computer'. I have checked the device manager and it says there are no DVD drives on my computer. I have uninstalled Daemon, followed all advice on these websites: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/EN-US/, http://forum.daemon-tools.cc/f14/real-d ... all-16700/. And it is not working. The windows Fix It said that I had no cd drives. I went to the event viewer and found this entry:
- System

- Provider

[ Name] Service Control Manager

Is there anyone that can help me out? Please email me if you need more information. armyguy8029@yahoo.com

1) Does your BIOS recognize your BD drive when you boot up?

and if so,

2) Have you tried reinstalling your BD drivers?

Likely his BD drive is physically fine. What can often happen when you install any sort of optical drive manipulation software (including things like itunes, roxio or daemon tools) the entire optical drive subsystem in windows can get hosed.

recommendation:
(if a step fixes the problem, stop, don't bother with any more steps)
1) re-install and then re-remove the same version of daemon tools (see this link for removing all parts of daemon tools http://forum.daemon-tools.cc/f26/how-re ... s-v4-6992/)
2) perform the manual regedit steps in the MS KB article (this should probably work)
3) move the BD drive to a different sata port
4) uninstall the drivers for your sata controller, and reinstall latest drivers letting windows re-detect the controllers
5) say fuck it and call it a day, start wiping and reloading, you've already spent too much time on a problem, take the opportunity to get yourself setup so you can wipe and reload whenever you need to (setup backups and get your app installers and hardware drivers set aside and upgrade to Win7)
